A Journey With Wings is a family-owned and operated business providing aerial scattering services as a burial alternative. We offer many options in our services to accommodate our clients' wishes and provide the pleasant, memorable experience their loved-ones deserve.

We are members of the Orange County Funeral Directors Association and the Los Angeles County Funeral Directors Association. Our business has been inspected and licensed by the state of California and we are also guaranteed and insured with $1,000,000 in professional liability insurance.

Robert Pavel and Jamie Tanabe are the father-daughter team behind A Journey with Wings. They have been flying together since 1992, when, as a birthday present, Jamie signed them up for flying lessons. Jamie continued on to become a licensed, instrument rated commercial pilot, and Robert, now a private pilot, serves as Jamie's safety pilot and witness during scatterings.

A Journey With Wings currently uses the following two aircraft for its scattering operations. The first aircraft is a two-seat 1973 Cessna 150L. This aircraft is used for most of our scatterings.

"Susie" is the two-seater aircraft used for most of the scatterings. She is based at Fullerton Airport near Los Angeles, CA, where Robert flies her almost every day.

The second aircraft is a Piper Aztec twin-engined aircraft. It is used on the Golden Journey (private scattering) flights. This aircraft is equipped with an aerial scattering device that is operated from the aircraft. When families choose to accompany us, one of the family members will be able to activate the device to release the cremated remains (ashes).

Based out of Alamitos Bay Marina, Long Beach, California, this 50-foot Carver yacht is available for families choosing to scatter their loved one's cremated remains at sea by boat. We are able to accommodate up to six family members plus crew for a memorable service at sea.
